Solution

Design Acoustic Room

Design of noise test rooms and acoustic enclosures from the customer's requirement: room size, target background noise, wall and floor construction, and simulated sound insulation before construction.

Design Acoustic Room
Every enclosure starts from the customer's requirement: the size of each room, the background noise needed inside for testing, and the noise allowed outside. SP SONIC then designs the complete room, including the wall and floor layers, doors, windows, ventilation and the layout on the production line. Before anything is built, the sound insulation of the proposed wall is calculated and simulated (AFMG SoundFlow), so the design can be compared with the existing room and the customer can see the expected improvement. Materials are selected for acoustic performance, fire safety and durability: perforated steel panels with powder coating, glass wool and gypsum board. What you receive: a design package with requirements, 3D drawings and plans, wall and floor sections, material specifications and the predicted transmission loss, followed by construction and measurement of the finished room.

Key features

  • Design from the customer's room sizes and noise targets
  • 3D drawings, plans and wall/floor sections
  • Transmission loss simulated before construction (AFMG SoundFlow)
  • Comparison of new and existing designs
  • Perforated absorptive inner panels (NRC 1.0, SAA 0.98)
  • Fire-safe, moisture- and mould-resistant materials
  • Demolition and replacement of old rooms when required
  • Measurement of the finished room

Example project

Enclosure room

Designing a soundproof room (preventing sound transmission from inside to outside).

  • Destroy room: 3.44 × 3.44 × 3.39 m, noise outside below 85 dB
  • Simulated wall rating: STC 58 (existing design STC 46)
  • Transmission loss at 1 kHz: 95 dB (existing design 78 dB)
